Luna and the Cloud Bull
Luna discovered the pool on a Tuesday, which was the best day for finding magic. It wasn't an ordinary swimming pool—it glowed soft blue, like moonlight caught in a cup. Turtles made of polished emerald swam in circles, leaving trails of tiny bubbles that popped into giggles.
"Hello there," said a deep, rumbly voice.
Luna turned to find a bull standing behind her. But this wasn't like the bulls in books. This one was made of fluffy white clouds, with gentle eyes the color of morning sky. His hooves didn't make clop-clop sounds—they made whispery sounds, like pages turning.
"I'm Barnaby," the cloud bull said. "Want to play padel?"
"Padel?" Luna asked. "But you're a... cloud?"
"Cloud bulls love padel!" Barnaby's tail swished and tiny rainbows fell out. "Come on!"
He led her to a court that appeared suddenly, painted on giant sunflower petals. The racquets were made of crystallized sunlight. When Luna hit the ball—a bouncing star—it chimed like a bell and changed colors: gold, pink, silver.
"You're good!" Barnaby cheered, puffing little clouds that shaped into hearts.
They played until the sun began to set, turning the pool liquid orange. Luna's arms tingled with happiness.
Barnaby nudged her gently with his soft cloud nose. "Before you go, take these." He opened his mouth and five glowing pills fell into her hand.
"Vitamins?" Luna made a face.
"Not ordinary ones," Barnaby winked, which looked like a cloud winking. "These are bravery vitamins. One gives you courage to try new things. One helps you make friends. One makes you curious. One helps you believe in magic. And the last one? That's for remembering that fun is the most important thing."
Luna swallowed them—they tasted like starlight and strawberry dreams.
"Will I see you again?" she asked.
Barnaby was already fading, becoming mist, becoming sky. "Whenever you find a pool that glows..."
Luna ran home faster than she ever had, her heart full of magic and her pocket full of invisible vitamins she could feel whenever she needed them.
That night, she dreamed of cloud bulls and star balls, and woke up smiling, ready for adventure.
