Lucy's Green Power Mission

Lucy wrinkled her nose at the green pile on her dinner plate. Spinach again! But her grandma just winked and whispered, "This isn't ordinary spinach, dear. It's magical!"

Curious, Lucy took a tiny bite. ZING! A sparkly tingle rushed through her body. Grandma leaned in close. "Every leaf is packed with a special vitamin that gives you extraordinary powers. But you must promise to use them only for helping others."

Lucy nodded solemnly. Outside, her best friend Sam was sitting on the sidewalk, head in hands. "What's wrong?" Lucy asked, feeling energized and ready for anything.

"I lost my lucky stone," Sam sniffled. "My grandpa gave it to me before he moved away. It's the only thing I have to remember him."

Lucy's heart went out to her friend. Then she remembered something—her older brother had been acting sneaky all week, running around with a mysterious bulge in his pocket. Could he be playing a spy? And more importantly, could he have taken Sam's stone?

"I'll help you find it," Lucy promised, feeling the magical spinach energy surging through her legs. "Let's go on a spy mission!"

The two friends crept through the house, following Sam's big brother. Lucy felt stronger than ever, like she could run forever without getting tired. The special vitamin was working!

They tracked him to his treehouse and peeked through a crack in the wooden floor. There, on a small table, sat Sam's lucky stone beside dozens of other shiny rocks!

"He's a rock collector!" Sam gasped.

Lucy tapped on the trapdoor. "Sam's brother, we know you're up there! And we know you have something that belongs to Sam."

The trapdoor creaked open slowly. Sam's brother looked down, face red. "I was going to return it. I just wanted to study it first. I'm starting a rock museum."

He handed Sam the lucky stone. "Sorry, Sam. I should have asked."

Sam hugged the stone tight. "It's okay. Want to see my other collection? I have seashells!"

Lucy smiled as the two brothers began talking excitedly about rocks and shells. The magical spinach powers had faded, but something better remained—the warm feeling of helping a friend and bringing two brothers closer together.

That night, Lucy asked for seconds on spinach. Some adventures required more than one helping of magic.
