Lucia and the Starlight Padel
Lucia loved running through the coconut palm trees that lined her backyard. Their long leaves danced in the warm breeze, whispering secrets to anyone who listened. But today, the palms were whispering something urgent.
'Follow the moonlight!' rustled the oldest palm tree. 'Someone needs your help!'
Lucia's heart thumped with excitement. She grabbed her favorite toy—her grandmother's old wooden padel racket—and followed the silver path of moonlight stretching across the sand.
The moonlight led her to a small, crying creature tangled in bushes near the beach. It looked like a tiny star fallen from the sky, its glow flickering weakly.
'Are you okay?' Lucia asked, kneeling beside it.
'My name is Twinkle,' sniffed the little star. 'I fell during the Starlight Games. I can't fly home until moonrise ends!'
Lucia looked at the darkening sky. The moon was already sinking! Without thinking, she held out her padel racket. 'Climb on, Twinkle! I'll help you catch the last moonbeam!'
Twinkle scrambled onto the wooden racket. Lucia held it high and started running—faster than she'd ever run before. Her bare feet pounded the sand, her laughter mixing with the ocean's song.
The palm trees cheered, their leaves clapping together. 'Go, Lucia, go!' they rustled.
Just as the moon dipped below the horizon, Lucia jumped and lifted the padel as high as she could. Twinkle caught the final moonbeam and soared upward, trailing sparkles like a glittery ribbon.
'Thank you, Lucia!' Twinkle called down, now shining brighter than ever.
That night, Lucia fell asleep under the palm trees, dreaming of stars and moonbeams. And sometimes, when she looked up at the night sky, one special star would twinkle extra bright—just for her.
The oldest palm tree whispered to the wind: 'True magic isn't in the stars. It's in kind hearts that never leave a friend behind.'
