Lily's Lightning Magic

Lily loved summer evenings, especially when warm rain pattered on her skin. She sat by her family's pool, watching water ripple like tiny silver diamonds. Her iphone rested on the towel beside her, its screen glowing softly.

CRACK! Lightning flashed across the dark sky, painting everything purple and white for one heartbeat. Most children would run inside, but Lily stayed still. She noticed something magical.

Where raindrops touched the pool, tiny lights danced on the water's surface. Not reflections—real, glowing sparkles that swirled and played. Another lightning flash made them brighter.

The sparkles began jumping toward her iphone! Lily held her breath as tiny lights swirled around her phone, forming shapes. First a star, then a smile, then letters that spelled: HELLO FRIEND.

Lily gasped. "Who are you?" she whispered.

More sparkles arranged themselves: WE ARE LIGHTNING CHILDREN. WE LIVE IN STORMS. WE ONLY SHOW OURSELVES TO KIND HEARTS.

That night, while thunder rumbled softly, Lily learned that lightning wasn't scary at all. It was a celebration! The Lightning Children showed her how they rode rainbows through clouds, how they painted the sky with light, and how they celebrated every storm with dancing.

"Why don't most people see you?" Lily asked.

BECAUSE THEY'RE TOO BUSY HIDING, the sparkles formed. YOU ARE BRAVE. YOU SEE MAGIC INSTEAD OF FEAR.

Lily felt proud. She watched Lightning Children dance across her pool until the storm drifted away. Before they vanished, they left one message: WE'LL ALWAYS RETURN WHEN LIGHTNING FLASHES. YOU ARE OUR FRIEND NOW.

Every storm after that, Lily sat by her pool with her iphone. Her parents thought she was playing games, but really, she was visiting magical friends who taught her that courage opens doors to wonder—and that the most beautiful magic appears when you're brave enough to look for it.
