Lily and the Magic Pool

Lily loved visiting her grandmother's garden, especially the old stone pool hidden behind the roses. One sunny afternoon, she was taking pictures of beautiful flowers with her iPhone when—splash!—the phone slipped from her fingers and sank into the water.

"Oh no!" Lily cried. Her heart pounded. That was her birthday present!

But something magical happened. The water began to glow, and up swam the most beautiful goldfish Lily had ever seen. Its scales shimmered like tiny rainbow stars.

"Why are you sad, little one?" asked the goldfish.

Lily gasped. "You can talk!"

The goldfish smiled (yes, smiled!). "I am Finn, guardian of this pool. I felt your worry ripple through the water. What troubles you?"

Lily explained about her fallen phone.

Finn nodded. "I can help, but first you must answer my riddle. Only those who understand what truly matters may enter the magical depths."

Suddenly, from the stone archway above, a sphinx stepped forward. She had the body of a lion and the face of a wise woman.

"I will ask the question," the sphinx said in an ancient voice. "What is the most precious thing in the world?"

Lily thought hard. "Gold? Diamonds?" She shook her head. Those felt wrong.

She looked at Finn the goldfish, at the sparkling water, at her grandmother's garden where she made so many happy memories.

"The most precious thing..." Lily said slowly, "is love. And time spent with people you care about."

The sphinx's eyes shone with approval. "You have answered wisely."

The water parted, and there lay Lily's iPhone, glowing as if kissed by magic. Finn pushed it toward her.

"Your device is returned," the sphinx said. "But remember, child—no treasure shines brighter than kindness, no picture captures more than a heart full of love."

Lily thanked Finn and the sphinx. That evening, she took fewer photos and spent more time simply being with her grandmother.

And sometimes, when she visited the pool, she swore she saw Finn wink at her from the depths.
