Lila's Pool of Wonders

Lila stood at the edge of her family's new pool, her toes curling against the warm concrete. The water sparkled like liquid diamonds under the afternoon sun, but Lila's stomach felt like it was doing flips. She was seven years old, and she still didn't know how to swim.

"I have something special for you," Grandma said, pressing a small orange tablet into Lila's palm. "It's a magic vitamin. It's called Bravery Plus."

Lila examined it. It looked just like a regular vitamin, but Grandma's twinkling eyes made her believe. "Really?"

"Really," Grandma nodded. "But you have to believe in the magic for it to work."

Lila swallowed the vitamin with a glass of juice. She waited. Nothing happened—no shooting out of rockets, no growing of wings. But when she looked at the pool again, something was different. The water seemed to shimmer with tiny rainbows, like it was calling her name.

Taking a deep breath, Lila climbed down the pool steps. The water wrapped around her like a cool, friendly hug. That's when she saw them—tiny glowing fish with rainbow scales darting between her fingers!

"Hello!" a bubbly voice said.

Lila looked around. A small blue creature with the body of a fish but the face of a friendly elf was floating beside her. "I'm Fin! I'm here to teach you swimming!"

"You can talk?" Lila gasped.

"Only to children who believe in magic," Fin winked. "The Bravery Plus vitamin helps you see us. We're the Pool Guardians, and we've been waiting for someone brave enough to visit."

For the next hour, Fin and his friends taught Lila to kick, to float, and to trust the water. She learned that swimming wasn't about being perfect—it was about being brave enough to try.

By dinner time, Lila could swim across the pool all by herself. She waved goodbye to her new friends as they faded back into the sparkles.

"Did you have fun?" Grandma asked.

"It was magical!" Lila hugged her. "But Grandma... I think the magic was inside me all along."

"That's the best kind," Grandma smiled. "And now, you'll always be brave enough for any adventure."
