Leo's Lightning Hair

Leo's hair always stuck up in crazy directions, no matter how much he tried to comb it down. On the day of the big baseball game, he was running so fast to the field that his hair looked like a brown, bouncy explosion.

"You look like you stuck your finger in a socket!" his best friend Maya giggled.

Leo sighed. At least his baseball swing was perfect.

The game began. Leo's team, the Thunderbolts, was losing by three runs. Then the sky turned purple-gray. The umpire pointed at the dark clouds. "Game paused! Storm coming!"

CRACK!

Lightning struck the old oak tree beyond center field — but it didn't burn. Instead, silver sparkles rained down like glitter.

Leo's hair started rising straight up, like someone was pulling it with invisible strings. Tingles zipped through his body, but they didn't hurt. They felt... magical.

"Leo!" Maya gasped. "Your hair is glowing!"

Leo looked up. Sure enough, golden light pulsed through each crazy strand. The lightning had given him a gift!

When the game resumed, Leo stepped to the plate. The pitcher threw the ball. Leo swung — and the lightning in his hair shot down his arms, into the bat. WHOOSH! The ball rocketed over the fence, leaving a golden trail behind it.

Home run!

But Leo noticed something. The magic only worked when he thought about helping his team, not about showing off. With every hit that helped someone, his hair glowed brighter. When he thought only about himself, the light faded.

The Thunderbolts won the game, and Leo became a hero. But that night, as his hair finally settled down, he realized something important: the lightning hadn't made him special. He had been special all along — a good friend who loved helping others.

The magic just helped everyone see it.
