Leo and the Lightning Sphinx
Leo was a small orange cat with the biggest dreams in the neighborhood. While other cats were content napping in sunbeams, Leo loved **running** through Mrs. Willow's overgrown garden, pretending he was exploring ancient Egyptian temples.
One stormy evening, Leo chased a sparkling moth deeper into the garden than ever before. Thunder rumbled like a giant's tummy, and suddenly—CRACK! A bolt of **lightning** split the sky, illuminating something Leo had never noticed before.
There, half-buried in rose vines, stood a stone statue of a creature with a lion's body and a human head. A sphinx!
Leo crept closer. The statue's eyes seemed to glow in the dim light.
"Hello, little friend," a voice rumbled, warm as honey tea.
Leo's fur puffed up like a dandelion. "Who said that?"
"I did," the sphinx said, stone features softening into a smile. "I've been stuck in this garden for two hundred years. Only during lightning storms can I wake up and speak."
"That's wonderful!" Leo bounced around the sphinx. "I've always wanted to meet a real sphinx! Do you know riddles?"
"I know many riddles," the sphinx laughed. "But more importantly, I know something about you. You're not like other cats, are you?"
Leo sat up straight. "I want to be an explorer! I want to see the world!"
"Then run, little explorer," the sphinx said as another lightning bolt flashed. "Run with your whole heart. The bravest explorers are the ones who dream big dreams."
The storm passed, and the sphinx grew still. But Leo didn't feel small anymore. He wasn't just a garden cat—he was an explorer, and the whole world was waiting.
From that day on, every time Leo went **running** through the garden, he'd visit his stone friend. And during every lightning storm, the sphinx would wake up with stories of distant lands, teaching Leo that the biggest adventures begin with a brave heart and an open mind.
Mrs. Willow never understood why her cat spent so much time talking to an old statue. But sometimes, just sometimes, she thought she saw the stone sphinx smiling back at them both.
