Leo and the Lightning Sphinx

Leo was a small boy with wild, curly hair that stuck up like lightning bolts during a storm. He lived on a sunny island filled with swaying palm trees, but Leo had a big secret—he was afraid of everything, especially thunder.

One afternoon, dark clouds gathered. Lightning flashed across the sky, and Leo hid under his bed. But then he heard a tiny voice.

"Little one, why do you hide?"

Leo peeked out to see a magical sphinx sitting on his windowsill! She had the body of a lion, wings like a butterfly, and wise eyes that sparkled like stars.

"I'm scared," Leo whispered.

The sphinx smiled. "I have a riddle for you. What gives you strength like the sun, makes your hair shine, and helps you brave any storm?"

Leo thought hard. "A... superhero?"

"Close!" The sphinx laughed. "Every orange you eat is a vitamin treasure! Every mango is magic fuel! True courage comes from taking care of yourself."

She reached into her pouch and pulled out something glowing. "This is a bravery vitamin, made from rainbow fruits. But it only works if you believe in yourself."

Leo ate it. It tasted like sunshine and dreams. Suddenly, he didn't feel so small anymore.

"Hold out your palm," the sphinx said.

Leo did, and she placed a tiny golden lightning bolt there. "Now you carry lightning in your hand—not to strike, but to light your way."

The thunder roared, but Leo stood tall. "I'm not afraid anymore!"

"Remember," the sphinx said as she faded away like morning mist, "true courage isn't never being scared. It's being scared and doing brave things anyway. And the strongest magic? It's been inside you all along."

That night, Leo watched the storm from his window, palm pressed against the glass, his lightning bolt glowing warm. He wasn't just a scared boy with messy hair anymore. He was Leo, the brave.
