Green Smoothie Surveillance

Maya's phone lit up at 11:47 PM β€” another like from username @greenspirit_glow on her three-day-old post about her "new health journey." Third like this week. Always at weird hours. Always her posts, never anyone else's.

"Okay, who IS this," she muttered, scrolling through the mystery account's profile. Zero followers, one post: a picture of a spinach smoothie with the caption "New year, new me energy vitamin boost πŸ’š"

It hit her like a dodgeball to the face. That caption. That exact weird phrasing. Maya had texted that exact caption to Sophie last week as a joke, after they'd spent twenty minutes in the cafeteria making fun of the new wellness trend.

"Sophie," Maya whispered. "You're my SPY?"

The next day at lunch, Maya slid into the seat across from Sophie, who was aggressively eating a salad that was approximately eighty percent spinach.

"So," Maya said, "interesting Instagram account you've got there."

Sophie froze, a spinach leaf halfway to her mouth. "I don't know what you're talking about."

"@greenspirit_glow, Soph? Really?"

Sophie's face turned the color of cooked beets. "Okay, look. I wanted to see if you were actually serious about the health thing, and I figured you'd be more honest if you didn't know it was me watching. And then I made a fake account because it would be weird if I liked literally everything you posted, andβ€”" She buried her face in her hands. "This sounds so creepy when I say it out loud."

Maya started laughing. Couldn't stop. "You made a whole fake account to SPY on my health kick posts? That's honestly the most dedicated friendship move I've ever seen."

Sophie peeked through her fingers. "So you're not mad?"

"Dude, I was literally texting you last night like 'I think someone's stalking me but I'm kind of into it.'" Maya stole a piece of spinach from Sophie's plate. "But next time? Just ask. I'll tell you everything you want to know about my new vitamin obsession."

Sophie groaned. "Please don't. I'm never eating anything green again after this salad."

"Deal," Maya said. "Now pass me the ranch."
