Goldie's Midnight Spy Mission
Goldie was no ordinary goldfish. While the other fish in Professor Puddle's pond swam in lazy circles, Goldie had a secret: she was a spy.
Every night, when the garden grew quiet, Goldie would swim to the surface and peek at the world above. She spied on fireflies dancing like tiny stars, on owls hooting mysterious messages, and on Mrs. Higgins' cat stalking through the moonlight.
"One day," Goldie told her friend Fin, "I'll swim up there and see everything close up."
Fin laughed. "Goldfish can't swim in air!"
But Goldie had discovered something magical. In the center of the garden grew a papaya tree, and every full moon, the ripest papaya glowed with an inner light. The old turtles whispered it could grant one wish to a creature with a pure heart.
Tonight was the full moon.
Goldie waited until Professor Puddle was asleep. Then she began her most important spy mission ever. She swam silently through the reeds, past the snuggling frogs, and toward the garden's edge.
The papaya glowed golden-orange, like a tiny sun. Goldie's heart fluttered faster than her fins. She wished with all her might: *I wish to swim anywhere I dream.*
Suddenly, she felt light as a bubble. Her fins tingled. And then—*whoosh*—Goldie was swimming through the air!
She swam around the papaya tree, spied on the dewdrops sparkling on the roses, and even swooped down to say hello to a surprised Mrs. Higgins' cat. The garden was beautiful at night, filled with secrets she'd never imagined.
But as dawn approached, Goldie grew tired. She swam back to her pond and splashed down beside Fin.
"Where were you?" Fin asked.
Goldie smiled. "Swimming in dreams. And someday, I'll show you how to spy on the world together."
The papaya tree swayed in the morning breeze, its magic ready for another small dreamer who believed that even the tiniest fish could have the biggest adventures.
