Goldie's Midnight Mission

zombiegoldfishspy

Lily peered into her fishbowl, watching Goldie swim in lazy circles. The orange goldfish always seemed to be watching her with tiny bead-like eyes.

"Are you a spy?" Lily whispered, pressing her nose against the glass. "Are you sending secret messages to the moon?"

Goldie bubbled in response.

That Halloween night, Lily spotted something strange in her backyard. A figure shuffled across the lawn with stiff, jerky movements—arms outstretched, head lolling sideways. It looked exactly like a zombie from her storybooks!

Lily gasped. But then she noticed something glittering in the moonlight. The figure wasn't moaning or groaning. It was... dancing?

She grabbed her spy flashlight and tiptoed outside. There, illuminated by moonbeams, was her neighbor Mr. Henderson practicing the robot dance for the school talent show. His stiff movements had looked scary from her window, but up close, he was just a kind old man having fun.

"I saw you spying, Lily," Mr. Henderson chuckled, spotting her flashlight. "Want to learn the zombie shuffle?"

Inside, Goldie swam excitedly as if laughing.

Lily joined Mr. Henderson under the stars, learning that things aren't always what they seem. Sometimes the scariest-looking zombies are just friendly neighbors practicing dance moves. And sometimes the best spies are the ones who learn to see with their hearts instead of just their eyes.

That night, Lily understood: real spies don't just observe mysteries—they help solve misunderstandings. And Goldie, watching from his bowl, seemed to wink his agreement.
