Gilligan's Digital Ocean
Lily pressed her face against the glass bowl, watching Gilligan swim in lazy circles. The little goldfish blew bubbles that rose to the surface like tiny pearls.
"I wish you could see the world, Gilligan," she whispered. "There's so much more than this bowl."
That afternoon, while cleaning her room, Lily found something glowing under her bed. It was her dad's old iPhone from years ago, the screen cracked but still shining. When she touched it, strange colors swirled across the glass—like ocean waves captured inside.
Suddenly, Gilligan's bowl began to shimmer. The water glowed with the same light from the iPhone, and the little fish swam faster, darting excitedly. Lily held the phone closer, and something magical happened.
Gilligan leaped right through the glass bowl and swam into the iPhone screen!
"Gilligan!" Lily gasped, but the fish wasn't in danger. Inside the phone, Gilligan was swimming through a beautiful digital ocean—pixels of blue and green and purple, all shimmering and alive.
Lily watched, amazed, as Gilligan explored this new world. But the tiny fish looked lonely. He swam to the edge of the screen, his little mouth opening and closing.
"You need a friend," Lily said. She looked around her room and spotted her lunch sitting on her desk—an orange. "I have an idea!"
She peeled the orange carefully, keeping one perfect piece of peel in the shape of a tiny boat. Using a toothpick as a mast and a small piece of paper as a sail, she created the littlest vessel ever made.
Lily placed the orange boat next to the iPhone. She pressed the screen, and a little digital fish—bright and colorful—popped out and swam into the orange peel boat!
Gilligan swam over immediately, and the two fish did a happy dance together. They had adventures in the digital ocean, racing through pixel waves and exploring coral gardens made of light.
Every day after school, Lily would bring out the magical iPhone and the orange boat. Gilligan and his new friend would play together, reminding Lily that the best discoveries come from being curious and kind.
And sometimes, when the sun hit the screen just right, Lily could see them both—swimming in a world where magic was real, and friendship could grow anywhere, even in an old iPhone and an orange peel.
