Fox and the Midnight Pyramid

Fiona was a fox with rusty-red fur and a tail as fluffy as a cloud. Every night, while other animals slept, she would sneak to the old stone pyramid at the edge of the forest. It wasn't a scary pyramid like in stories. It was magical.

Tonight, something strange was happening. A green glow pulsed from the pyramid's top. Fiona's ears perked up. Inside, she found not treasure, but a little zombie boy named Zev.

"I'm not scary," Zev said, his stitches showing. "I'm just lonely. I've been sleeping in this pyramid for a hundred years."

Fiona's tail wagged. "I can help! My grandmother told me about the Moon Lake. If you swim in it under the full moon, you'll become real again."

Zev's gray face lit up. "But I don't know how to swim."

"I'll teach you!" Fiona promised.

They went running through the forest, Fiona's paws barely touching the ground. Zev stumbled behind, his limbs creaking like rusty hinges. When they reached Moon Lake, it sparkled like diamonds.

"Don't worry," Fiona said gently. "The water holds you up. Trust it."

Zev stepped in. Splash! He floated!

"I'm doing it!" he cheered, paddling in clumsy circles. Fiona swam beside him, showing him how to glide through the silver water.

Suddenly, moonlight wrapped around Zev like a warm blanket. His gray skin turned pink. His stitches disappeared. He became a real boy, laughing and splashing.

"Thank you, Fiona," he said, hugging his new friend. "You saw me, not a monster. That's the magic."

Fiona smiled, understanding the real treasure wasn't making Zev real — it was the friendship they'd found. Sometimes the bravest thing you can do is see the goodness in others, especially when no one else does.

And every full moon after that, the fox and the boy went swimming together, their friendship glowing brighter than any magic pyramid could.
