Finnegan's One Big Wish

Lily loved playing padel in her backyard. Every afternoon after school, she'd grab her racquet and hit the ball against the wall, *thwack-thwack-thwack*, the sound echoing like tiny thunderclaps. But one afternoon, something strange happened.

"Psst! Hey! Over here!"

Lily dropped her racquet and spun around. Sitting on the patio table in his glass bowl was Finnegan, her pet goldfish. But Finnegan wasn't just any goldfish — he was swimming to the surface, his orange scales shimmering like tiny coins in the sunlight.

"You can talk?" Lily whispered, her eyes wide.

"Only on special days," Finnegan bubbled. "Today is my birthday, and I have one BIG wish. But I need your help."

Lily leaned closer. "What do you need?"

"I need to reach the Moon Pool before sunset," Finnegan said seriously. "It's hidden behind the old willow tree. Legend says that on a goldfish's birthday, one swim in those magical waters can make their biggest dream come true."

Lily's heart was *running* fast with excitement. "Let's go!"

She carefully carried Finnegan's bowl, sloshing gently as they hurried across the yard. The sprinklers had just turned on, spraying cool *water* into the air like a sudden rainstorm. Lily laughed as they ran through the mist, her sneakers squelching on the wet grass.

"There!" she pointed. Behind the willow tree, they found it — a small, crystal-clear *pool* glowing with an inner light. Lily had never noticed it before.

"Quickly!" Finnegan cried. "The sun is setting!"

Lily gently poured him into the magical water. Finnegan took one deep breath and did something amazing — he grew legs! Little orange legs with webbed toes. He climbed out of the pool and stood proudly on the grass.

"Thank you, Lily," he said. "My dream was to explore the world beyond my bowl. And now, thanks to you, I can!"

Finnegan became Lily's best adventure friend. They played padel together (Finnegan was terrible at it, but he tried his best), explored the garden, and had wonderful adventures. And every year on Finnegan's birthday, they returned to the Moon Pool to make new wishes together.

Lily learned that day that the best adventures are the ones we share with friends, and even the smallest dreams can become the biggest adventures if you're brave enough to help them come true.
