Finn's Grand Slam Magic
Finn was a small orange goldfish who lived in a glass bowl on the corner desk of Mrs. Higgins' third-grade classroom. Every day at recess, he would watch the children run outside to play baseball through the window. He loved how the ball sailed through the air like a shooting star and how the children cheered whenever someone made a home run.
How Finn wished he could join them! But goldfish can't play baseball. Or so he thought.
One sunny afternoon, the classroom was empty except for Finn and a toy zombie named Benny that someone had left on the shelf. Benny was a bright green toy with stitches painted on his face, and he looked very lonely sitting there all by himself.
"I wish I could play baseball," Finn bubbled, swimming in a little circle.
To his surprise, Benny's plastic eyes seemed to twinkle. Suddenly, the classroom filled with sparkling golden light! Finn felt himself lifted right out of his bowl, surrounded by magical bubbles that kept him wet and comfortable.
"Let's play!" Benny said, his plastic mouth moving as if by magic.
Outside, Maya's team was losing badly. They needed one run to win, but nobody could hit the ball. Then something amazing happened. Finn, floating in his magical bubble, zoomed onto the field!
"A goldfish!" shouted the children in wonder.
Finn focused all his energy on the baseball. With a magical splash, he swam through the air and hit the ball with his tail—CRACK! The ball flew higher than ever before, all the way over the fence! A grand slam!
The children couldn't believe their eyes. Even Benny came shambling out onto the field, dancing a funny little zombie dance that made everyone laugh.
From that day on, Finn wasn't just a classroom pet anymore. He was the team's lucky mascot, and every time the children played baseball, they knew that with a little imagination and friendship, even a small goldfish could make a big difference.
And Benny? He became the team's cheerleader, proving that everyone—fish, toys, or children—belongs when they work together.
