Finn's Golden Wish
Finn was not an ordinary goldfish. While his brothers and sisters happily swam in circles around their tiny castle, Finn spent his days pressed against the glass of his bowl, watching the world beyond.
Every morning, a young girl named Lily would lean close to his bowl. "Good morning, Finn!" she'd say, dropping a pinch of flakes into the water. "Time for your vitamin breakfast!"
Finn didn't know what a vitamin was, but he loved how Lily's eyes sparkled when she said it. She always took her own vitamin too — a tiny orange chewable that she showed him through the glass.
"Someday," Finn whispered to the plastic seaweed, "I'll see what's beyond this bowl. I want to go running through the grass like the cats I see through the window."
One Tuesday, something magical happened. Lily was dancing while taking her vitamin when she accidentally dropped it — and it landed right in Finn's bowl!
The orange tablet began to bubble and glow. Finn watched in wonder as it dissolved into golden sparkles that swirled around him. Suddenly, he felt different. Strong. Brave.
Finn jumped — and instead of flopping back into the water, he kept going! He was running! His shimmering orange scales glistened as he zoomed across Lily's desk, his little fins working like legs.
"Finn!" Lily gasped, delighted. "You're running!"
Together they explored — Finn running across the rug (it felt like a giant orange forest), racing toy cars, and even sliding down the banister. But as the sun began to set, Finn felt weaker. The magic was fading.
"I don't want to go back in the bowl," Finn said sadly.
Lily gently picked him up. "Finn, the world is big and wonderful. But your bowl isn't a prison — it's your home. And I promise, every day we'll have adventures together."
She placed him back in his bowl. As the magic faded, Finn realized something wonderful: Lily had always been his adventure. Every morning, she brought the world to him through stories, songs, and love.
The next morning, Finn swam happily to the glass. He wasn't running anymore, but when Lily appeared with her daily vitamin and a storybook, Finn knew something important.
The best adventures aren't about going places. They're about who you're with.
And from that day on, Finn never felt stuck in his bowl again — because he was too busy having adventures with his best friend, one story at a time.
