Finley's Midnight Flight
Finley was a small goldfish who lived in a round glass bowl on a nightstand. Every day, he watched Emma running past his bowl, her sneakers squeaking on the floor. Finley wished he could run too.
One stormy night, lightning flashed so bright it turned Finley's bowl into sparkling light. Suddenly, he wasn't just swimming in water anymore — he was swimming through the air, bubbles floating around him like tiny moons.
A glowing lightning bug landed on his nose. 'I'm Spark!' she buzzed. 'That lightning magic set you free!'
'But I'm just a goldfish,' Finley said. 'I can't explore the world.'
Spark zipped around his head, leaving trails of golden dust. 'This is a courage vitamin,' she explained. 'One pinch, and you'll believe in yourself!'
Finley inhaled the sparkling dust. Suddenly, he felt brave! He swam through Emma's open window, floating above the backyard where fireflies danced like tiny stars. He saw rabbits hopping, deer drinking from a stream, and owls watching with wise eyes.
'Being brave doesn't mean you're never scared,' Spark whispered. 'It means doing scary things anyway — like a goldfish flying through the night!'
Finley realized something wonderful: he didn't need to run like Emma to have adventures. He could swim through the air, exploring in his own special way.
As dawn approached, Spark guided Finley back to his bowl. 'Will you remember tonight?' she asked.
'Always,' Finley promised.
The next morning, Emma running past his bowl stopped and peered at him. 'You look different today, Finley. Happier somehow.'
Finley swished his tail and blew a tiny bubble that sparkled like lightning. He had learned the best secret of all: everyone's brave in their own way, and true friends help you find your courage.
