Felix and the Magic Pool
Felix was a fox who hated trying new foods. Every time his mother brought home something green, he would wrinkle his nose and scamper away to find berries instead.
One sunny afternoon, Felix was exploring the forest when he discovered something he had never seen before—a sparkling blue pool tucked between two ancient oak trees. The water shimmered like diamonds, and tiny glowing fish swam beneath the surface.
"Hello there!" called a friendly voice.
Felix jumped and spotted a small turtle sitting on a mossy rock at the pool's edge. "I'm Oliver. Would you like to see something magical?"
The turtle pointed at the water. "Look closely."
Felix peered into the pool and gasped. The reflection showed not his own face, but something else—his future self, strong and brave, with beautiful orange-red fur that gleamed like sunset.
"This pool shows you what you can become," Oliver explained. "But only if you're brave enough to try new things."
Felix's ears perked up. "Brave? I want to be brave!"
Oliver smiled. "Being brave means trying things that seem strange at first. Like these." He pushed forward a bowl of bright green leaves. "They're called spinach. They give you the strength of ten foxes!"
Felix wrinkled his nose. "But they're green!"
"The pool showed me a fox who's strong and brave," Oliver said. "Perhaps that fox is someone who tries new things."
Felix looked at the magical pool, then at the spinach. He took a tiny bite, expecting to hate it. Instead—his eyes widened. It was crisp and fresh, not at all scary.
"I like it!" Felix exclaimed. "And I feel stronger already!"
That day, Felix learned that the bravest thing you can do is try something new. And every evening, he returned to the magic pool to watch his future self grow stronger with each adventure.
