Bernard's Golden Game
Bernard was a big, fuzzy bear who lived in a cozy cave near Sparkle Creek. He loved two things more than anything: playing padel and eating snacks. But Bernard had a problem - he always lost at padel because he was too slow.
One afternoon, while sitting by the creek feeling sad, Bernard met a tiny goldfish named Gillie. Gillie wasn't an ordinary fish - she shined like real gold and could jump right out of the water!
"Why the long face, Bernard?" Gillie asked, splashing playfully.
Bernard explained how he kept losing at padel. Gillie swam in excited circles. "I know what can help! Follow me!"
She led Bernard to a secret patch of magical spinach growing by the creek. "These leaves give you special energy," Gillie explained. "But only eat three - no more!"
Bernard munched the bright green leaves. Suddenly, he felt light as a feather! His paws moved faster than ever before.
"Let's play padel!" Bernard cheered.
They made a padel court in the meadow, using smooth river stones as rackets. Bernard hit the ball so hard it zoomed like a shooting star!
Just then, storm clouds gathered. CRACK! Lightning flashed across the sky, turning everything purple and blue.
Bernard trembled - bears don't like storms. But Gillie just giggled. "This isn't scary lightning! It's magical lightning that paints the sky for friends!"
Each lightning bolt made beautiful shapes - hearts, stars, even a bear and a fish holding hands!
Bernard laughed so hard he forgot to be scared. He realized something important: winning didn't matter as much as having fun with a friend.
From that day on, Bernard and Gillie played padel every day. Bernard even shared his spinach with other animals who felt slow. He had learned that being a champion means helping friends, not just winning games.
And whenever lightning flashed during their matches, Bernard and Gillie would smile, knowing the sky was cheering for their friendship.
