Bear and the Lightning Goldfish
Bear was a big, fluffy brown bear who lived near a sparkling mountain pond. Every day, he would sit by the water's edge and watch the ripples dance. But Bear had a secret—he was afraid of swimming.
One warm evening, as the sky turned dark purple, a tiny goldfish popped her head above the water. Her scales shimmered like tiny stars, and her eyes twinkled with mischief.
"Hello, Bear!" she chirped. "I'm Goldie. Why do you look so sad?"
Bear sighed, his fluffy shoulders drooping. "I wish I could swim like you, Goldie. But the water is deep and mysterious, and I'm scared."
Goldie laughed, a sound like silver bells. "Swimming is magical! It feels like flying, but underwater. I can teach you!"
Just then, lightning crackled across the sky, painting it bright white. Bear jumped, hiding his eyes.
"I'm afraid of storms too," Bear admitted softly.
Goldie swam closer to the shore. "Lightning is just nature's way of painting pictures in the sky. It's not scary—it's beautiful! Watch how it makes the water glow!"
Raindrops started falling, plinking into the pond like tiny drums. The water surface became a dancing mirror of light.
"I'll stay right beside you," Goldie promised. "We'll learn swimming together, lightning and all."
Bear stepped into the cool water, trembling. Goldie guided him, her tiny body a golden beacon in the darkening pond.
"You're braver than you think," she said.
That night, Bear took his first swimming strokes while lightning painted the sky above them. He wasn't just a bear who watched from the shore anymore—he was a swimming bear, with a goldfish friend who had taught him that facing fears with a friend makes even the scariest things feel like magic.
