Barney's Running Vitamin
Barney was a bear who loved to sleep. While other bears roared and wrestled, Barney would curl up in his favorite cave and dream about honey.
One sunny morning, Barney discovered something strange. A tiny bluebird named Bella hopped right onto his nose!
"Wake up, Barney!" she chirped. "You need your morning running vitamin!"
"Running vitamin?" Barney grumbled, rubbing his sleepy eyes. "I don't like running. I like sleeping."
Bella giggled. "That's because you've never tried the special running vitamin! Every morning, when you run through the meadow while the sun is rising, you catch something magical on your fur. It's called sunshine-energy, and it's the best vitamin in the whole forest!"
Barney was curious. He lumbered outside and started to run. Well, it was more like a fast waddle at first. But as his big paws hit the dewy grass, he felt something tingling on his fur. Tiny sparkles of golden light were sticking to him!
The more he ran, the more sparkles he caught. Soon, Barney was running faster than he'd ever run before, past oak trees and over babbling brooks. He felt light as a feather!
Other animals joined him. Rabbits hopped alongside, deer pranced nearby, even a grumpy old badger started trotting. They were all collecting their own running vitamins.
By the time the sun was fully up, Barney's brown fur shimmered with hundreds of golden sparkles. He didn't feel sleepy anymore. He felt powerful, happy, and full of energy!
"See?" Bella sang from a branch overhead. "The best vitamin doesn't come in a bottle. It comes from moving your body and greeting the day!"
From that day on, Barney became known as the bear who started every morning with a running vitamin. He taught all the young cubs that the secret to feeling strong and happy wasn't sleeping all day — it was running, playing, and dancing under the morning sun.
And sometimes, if you visit the forest very early, you might still see a big brown bear running through the meadow, collecting sparkles of sunshine on his fur, smiling bigger than any bear has ever smiled before.
