Barnaby's Swimming Lesson

Barnaby was a bull unlike any other in the meadow. While his friends chomped on grass all day, Barnaby had a secret: he loved **spinach**. He'd sneak into Farmer Green's garden every morning to munch the crunchy green leaves.

One hot afternoon, Barnaby heard splashing by the river. He peeked through the tall grass and saw something magical—a golden retriever named Splash was actually **swimming** in the water! The dog paddled in circles, barking happily at the butterflies.

Barnaby had never seen a **dog** so brave. He wanted to splash too, but bulls were too heavy for swimming. Weren't they?

"Come on!" Splash called, spotting Barnaby. "The water feels wonderful!"

Barnaby shook his big head. "Bulls sink. Everyone knows that."

Splash swam to the riverbank and shook water everywhere—sparkling droplets caught the sunlight like tiny diamonds. "My grandpa was a farm dog too," Splash said. "He told me about a bull who tried swimming and floated like a big brown boat!"

Barnaby's eyes grew wide. A floating bull? That sounded like magic!

That evening, Barnaby ate extra spinach for courage. Then, with Splash cheering him on, he stepped into the cool river. His hooves slipped on the smooth stones, and he held his breath… and let go.

Miracle of miracles! Barnaby didn't sink. With all that spinach giving him strong muscles, he paddled gracefully across the water.

"You're doing it!" Splash barked happily. "We're swimming buddies!"

From that day on, Barnaby and Splash met every afternoon. The other farm animals couldn't believe their eyes—a bull and a dog, swimming together like they'd done it forever.

Barnaby learned something important: sometimes the things we think are impossible just need a little courage and a good friend to show us the way. And if anyone asked why he was so good at swimming? Well, he'd just say it was all that spinach.
