Barnaby's Secret Mission

Lily's dog Barnaby was no ordinary golden retriever. While other dogs chased squirrels, Barnaby spent his days watching the neighborhood with alert, twinkling eyes.

One afternoon, Lily found a mysterious glowing bottle in her garden. Inside were rainbow-colored capsules labeled "Kindness Vitamin."

"What do you think this is?" Lily asked, tossing one to Barnaby.

Barnaby caught it mid-air and swallowed it whole. Suddenly, his ears perked up. He could HEAR what people were feeling!

"I'm not good at math," cried little Timmy from next door.

Barnaby's tail thumped. He had a new mission. He became a secret spy of kindness, listening for worries and magically appearing to help.

When Timmy's ice cream fell, Barnaby "coincidentally" dropped his own toy to make him laugh.

When Mia felt lonely, Barnaby brought her his favorite stuffed bear.

When Sam was scared of the dark, Barnaby slept by his window, a fluffy guardian.

"You're like a super spy dog!" Lily giggled.

Barnaby barked proudly. He WAS a spy—a friendship spy!

The next morning, the bottle was empty. Barnaby's super-hearing faded. But Lily noticed something wonderful. Barnaby didn't need magic to know who needed help. His heart had always known.

"You never needed any vitamin to be a hero," she whispered, hugging him.

Barnaby wagged his tail. The best missions, he discovered, were simply being a good friend.
