Barnaby's Midnight Safari
Young bear Barnaby couldn't sleep. The moon was bright, and something mysterious glowed near the old swimming pool behind his house. Being a curious little bear, he decided to become a spy for the night.
Barnaby crept through the tall grass on soft paws. His heart beat faster with every step. What could that mysterious orange light be?
When he reached the pool, he gasped. The most beautiful palm tree he had ever seen grew right beside the water. Its leaves sparkled like diamonds in the moonlight. And hanging from its branches were the biggest, brightest oranges anyone had ever seen!
"Who goes there?" whispered a voice.
Barnaby froze. A tiny flying squirrel named Piper peeked out from behind the pool's diving board.
"I'm Barnaby," he whispered back. "I'm on a secret mission to find the magical light."
Piper's eyes twinkled. "Then you've found it! This is the Wish Palm. Its special oranges grant one wish each night—but only to someone who wants to help others."
Barnaby thought of his friend Lily, a little rabbit who was too scared to climb trees like the other rabbits. "I wish for Lily to have courage and believe in herself."
Piper nodded approvingly. Barnaby reached up and plucked one glowing orange. As soon as he touched it, the fruit burst into sparkly butterflies that danced toward Lily's house.
The next day, Barnaby watched as Lily climbed the highest tree in the meadow, her face beaming with confidence. She waved down at him, and Barnaby knew that sometimes the best adventures are the ones that help our friends.
From that night on, Barnaby and Piper became the best of friends, guarding the magical palm tree together. And every night, they spied on the stars, wondering whose wish they would grant next.
