Barnaby's Midnight Magic
Barnaby was a small, scruffy brown dog with one ear that stood up straight and one that flopped down. Every night, while his family slept, Barnaby tiptoed to the window to watch the moon. He knew something magical happened when the moon turned silver.
One Tuesday night, Barnaby saw something strange. A large figure shuffled through the garden, moving stiff and slow like a... zombie! But Barnaby was a brave dog. He squeezed through the doggy door and followed.
The creature lumbered toward the forest, groaning softly. Barnaby's tail wagged anyway. He sensed sadness, not scariness.
In a moonlit clearing, the zombie stopped. Then something amazing happened. The creature's stiff arms reached up, and a whole bear costume fell off! underneath stood a tiny, sparkling fairy named Luna.
"Oh, thank goodness!" Luna squeaked. "I'm the forest guardian, but I lost my magic dust. Now all the animals think I'm a scary monster!"
Barnaby's floppy ear perked up. He dug in his pocket and pulled out something shiny—a magic button he'd found weeks ago.
Luna gasped. "A wishing star!" She sprinkled dust from the button, and suddenly the whole forest glowed with twinkling lights.
"You saved our home," Luna said, planting a tiny kiss on Barnaby's nose. "From now on, you'll understand all creatures, even the scary-seeming ones."
Barnaby trotted home, his heart full. That night, he learned that sometimes, the scariest things are just friends we haven't met yet. And sometimes, a small dog can do the biggest magic of all.
The End.
