Barnaby's Midnight Baseball

Young Leo couldn't sleep. The full moon glowed through his window like a giant pearl. He crept downstairs and opened the back door, needing to feel the cool night air on his face.

That's when he saw it—a shimmering golden pyramid rising from the middle of his baseball field. It wasn't there yesterday!

Leo tiptoed closer, his bare feet whispering through the grass. The pyramid glowed softly, pulsing like a heartbeat. As he reached out to touch it, the golden surface rippled like water.

Suddenly, a small creature popped out! It was a tiny bull, no bigger than a shoe, with gleaming silver horns and fur that sparkled like stardust. The bull blinked its enormous eyes and smiled.

"Greetings, Leo!" the bull said in a voice like jingle bells. "I'm Barnaby, guardian of the Imagination Pyramid."

"You can talk?" Leo gasped.

"Of course! Magic happens at midnight for those who believe." Barnaby tossed something to Leo—a baseball that shimmered with rainbow light. "Care to play? The pyramid opens only for baseball lovers."

They played the most magical game ever. When Barnaby hit the ball, it left trails of glitter. When Leo caught it, he felt weightless, like he was flying. Each run they scored made the pyramid glow brighter.

"Why a pyramid?" Leo asked between innings.

"Pyramids were built by dreamers, like baseball stadiums," Barnaby explained. "Both bring people together. Both celebrate greatness."

As dawn approached, Barnaby grew serious. "Leo, the pyramid disappears at sunrise. But I'll return every night if you promise something."

"Anything!"

"Include everyone in your games. The lonely kid, the one who can't catch, the one who's different. Magic lives in friendship."

Leo promised. Barnaby hugged him with tiny but powerful hooves, then vanished back into the pyramid as it dissolved into sparkles.

The next morning, Leo found something in his pocket—the rainbow baseball. And that afternoon, when he saw the new kid sitting alone during recess, he walked over with a smile.

"Want to play baseball?"

And somewhere, only visible to those who believe, a tiny silver-horned bull cheered from the clouds.
