Barnaby's Golden Wish
Barnaby was a small bear with very big dreams, but he was terribly shy. While other bears roared and wrestled, Barnaby preferred to sit quietly by the sparkling stream near his cave, watching the ripples dance.
One sunny morning, something extraordinary happened. A tiny goldfish with scales like orange sunshine popped to the surface.
"Hello there!" squeaked the goldfish. "I'm Goldie! What are you doing all alone?"
Barnaby blushed. "I'm not brave like the other bears. They can climb the tallest trees and roar the loudest. I can't do anything special."
Goldie swam closer. "Everyone has something special inside them! My grandmother told me about a magic ingredient. It's called a Courage Vitamin."
Barnaby's eyes grew wide. "A vitamin? Like the ones bears eat to stay strong?"
"Not exactly," Goldie explained. "The Courage Vitamin comes from inside you. It grows whenever you try something new, even if you're scared. Each brave moment adds another dose!"
That afternoon, Barnaby's friend Lily was stuck. Her favorite ball had rolled onto the highest branch of the Great Pine Tree. All the big bears were too busy to help.
Barnaby's heart thumped. But then he remembered Goldie's words.
"I'll try," he whispered.
With shaking paws, Barnaby climbed. Each branch was a dose of his Courage Vitamin. Higher and higher he went, until he reached the very top and retrieved Lily's ball.
"You did it!" cheered all the animals.
That evening, Goldie swam by. "See? You had the Courage Vitamin all along!"
Barnaby smiled, finally understanding. True courage wasn't about being the biggest or loudest. It was about having a big heart and being willing to help others.
And from that day on, Barnaby was never just a shy bear again. He was Barnaby the Brave — who always remembered that his best friend was a tiny goldfish who taught him that magic vitamins come from trying your best, even when you're afraid.
