Barnaby's Golden Game

Barnaby was a bull with a very big dream. Every Saturday, he trotted to the edge of the farmer's field and watched the children play baseball. His hooves would thump softly against the fence as imaginary bases filled his mind.

"If only I had hands," Barnaby sighed, watching a boy catch a fly ball. "Then I could play too."

One afternoon, something extraordinary happened. A tiny goldfish in a crystal bowl appeared near the fence. Her scales shimmered like miniature suns, and her name, she bubbled through the water, was Goldie.

"I heard your wish," Goldie said, her voice like twinkling bells. "In my magical bowl, I have vitamins that grant one special dream. They can give you hands for one whole game of baseball."

Barnaby's eyes widened. "Really? But what about you? You'll be all alone in your bowl."

Goldie swam in a lonely circle. "I'm used to being alone. But sometimes... I wish I could run and feel the grass between my toes, or catch a ball that sails through the air."

Barnaby looked at the vitamins, then at Goldie swimming in circles. A warm feeling grew in his heart—bigger than any baseball dream.

"Give the vitamins to me," Barnaby said softly. "And I'll give them to YOU."

Goldie's fins fluttered in surprise. "But you'll still have hooves. You still won't be able to play."

Barnaby smiled. "But YOU will. And isn't that better?"

That day, something magical happened. Goldie took the vitamins and transformed into a golden-haired girl who ran onto the field and played the most wonderful baseball anyone had ever seen. And Barnaby? He cheered louder than anyone from the fence, because he discovered something better than playing baseball—making a friend's dream come true.

The next Saturday, Goldie brought her whole bowl to the fence, and she taught Barnaby a new game: baseball where the ball floats on water and bull hooves make the best splash hits. Sometimes, the best dreams are the ones we invent together with friends.
