Barnaby's Glowing Night

Barnaby was a small bear with a very big fear. Every time the sky flashed with lightning, he would hide under his paws and tremble. The other bears laughed and called him 'Barnaby the Brave' as a joke, but Barnaby didn't feel brave at all. He felt small.

One evening, as thunder rumbled across the mountains, Barnaby spotted something strange. Near an old hollow tree, he saw a tiny fairy named Lila, crying. Her lantern had broken, leaving her lost and alone in the growing darkness.

'I can't find my way home,' Lila sobbed. 'And the storm is coming.'

Barnaby wanted to help, but lightning crashed overhead, and he almost ran. Then he noticed two fruits near the tree—a bright orange papaya and a glowing orange from the fairy's garden. Something magical happened when lightning flashed again. The fruits began to shimmer!

Barnaby had an idea. He placed the papaya and orange on a flat rock. Each time lightning struck, the fruits absorbed its light, glowing brighter and brighter. Soon, they were like two little moons.

'Hold these,' Barnaby told Lila, nudging the glowing fruits toward her. 'They'll show you the path.'

Lila's eyes widened with wonder. 'You're helping me even though you're scared?'

Barnaby nodded. 'Friends help friends, scared or not.'

Lila followed the glowing path home, then returned with her fairy friends to thank Barnaby. They used their magic to create special lightning-glowing fruits just for him—fruit that would never fail to shine, no matter how dark the storm.

The other bears never laughed again. Instead, they called him 'Barnaby the Bright' because he had learned that true bravery isn't about not being afraid. It's about helping others, even when your paws are shaking.

From then on, whenever lightning flashed across the sky, Barnaby would smile, knowing that even the scariest things could become something beautiful—and that a small bear with a big heart could light up the whole forest.
