Barnaby's Brave Blue Hat
Barnaby was not like other bulls. While his friends spent hot summer days splashing in the sparkling creek, Barnaby stood on the grassy bank, his curly red hair blowing in the breeze. He wanted to join them, but water scared him.
One afternoon, something bobbed toward shore—a bright blue hat with a silver star on the front! Barnaby nudged it with his nose. The hat felt warm, as if it had captured sunshine from the sky.
'Go ahead,' whispered a voice like rustling leaves. 'It's a magic hat for brave hearts.'
Barnaby slipped the hat over his fuzzy ears. Suddenly, courage tingled through him, like bubbles in a glass of soda. His hooves moved on their own, carrying him toward the shimmering water.
His nose twitched at the cool, fresh smell of the creek. The water lapped at his legs—surprisingly gentle, like a friend's hand. He stepped deeper. And deeper. Until—splash!
Barnaby was swimming! His strong legs paddled beneath him. Water droplets sparkled around his head like tiny diamonds. The other bulls cheered, 'Barnaby's swimming! Barnaby's swimming!'
That evening, drying in the golden sunset, Barnaby understood something important: the magic wasn't in the hat at all. The magic had been inside him all along, waiting for someone to believe he could be brave.
From that day on, Barnaby swam every day. And whenever a new animal felt afraid of the water, he'd lend them his brave blue hat—because true magic is sharing courage with friends who need it most.
