Barnaby Bull and the Star-Cable
Barnaby was the smallest bull in the meadow, with spotted fur the color of chocolate milk and a heart full of big dreams. While the other bulls practiced charging and snorting, Barnaby liked to lie in the clover and watch the clouds dance across the sky.
One sparkly afternoon, something extraordinary happened. A shimmering cable, thick as a vine and glowing with rainbow light, descended from the clouds and dangled just above Barnaby's nose. It pulsed with warmth, like a hug from the sun itself.
"Hello?" Barnaby whispered. To his amazement, tiny glowing orbs floated down the cable. They sparkled like fireflies, each one a different color of the sunset.
A bluebird named Feather landed on Barnaby's horn. "Those are star-vitamins!" she chirped. "They fall from the Dream-Cable whenever someone needs courage."
Barnaby's eyes widened. "Courage? For me?"
"For anyone who believes in magic," Feather said. "But you must swallow just one—too many will make you float away like a balloon!"
Barnaby carefully caught a golden vitamin between his lips. It tasted like honey and stardust. Suddenly, his hooves felt light as feathers. He took a step—and didn't touch the ground! He was walking on air!
"Feather! Look!" Barnaby laughed, prancing through the sky.
But as he soared higher, Barnaby saw something that made his heart heavy. A baby bird had fallen from its nest, too small to fly back up. The mother circled desperately, but couldn't reach her little one.
Barnaby didn't hesitate. He swooped down and gently caught the baby bird on his back. His strong legs carried them both up, up, up to the safety of the nest.
"You saved my baby!" the mother bird sang. "You're the bravest bull in the whole meadow!"
That night, Barnaby realized something wonderful. The magic vitamin hadn't made him special—his kind heart had done that all along. The bull who once felt too small had become exactly who he was meant to be: a hero with hooves.
And every evening after that, you could find Barnaby watching for the star-cable, ready for his next adventure—and ready to help anyone who needed a friend.
