Barnaby Bear and the Sunny Zombie
Barnaby Bear loved exploring the Whispering Woods. Every morning, he would put on his favorite red hat—the one with the shiny buckle—and set off on adventures.
One Tuesday, something strange tumbled out of the rainbow near the old oak tree. It was green and wobbly and moved like a sleepy turtle.
Barnaby hid behind a bush. Was it a monster? A ghost? The creature shuffled closer, and Barnaby saw it was a little zombie with patchwork overalls and stitches where its smile should be.
"Hello?" said Barnaby, peeking out. "Are you lost?"
The zombie looked up sadly. "I'm Zimmy. I was looking for sunshine, but I keep walking in circles. My knees feel like jelly."
Barnaby noticed Zimmy's skin was pale, almost moonlight-colored. Then he remembered something his grandmother had told him about special sunshine vitamins stored in the Secret Garden—glowing orange berries that gave creatures their energy back.
"I can help!" Barnaby patted his red hat for luck. "Follow me!"
They walked past dancing streams and trees that whispered hello. Zimmy told wonderful stories about living inside a clock tower and watching gears spin. Barnaby learned that zombies weren't scary at all—they were just friends who needed extra care.
At the Secret Garden, the sunshine berries glowed like tiny suns. Zimzy ate three and suddenly stood taller. His pale cheeks turned rosy, and he began to skip.
"Thank you, Barnaby!" Zimzy cheered. "Will you be my friend?"
Barnaby's red hat felt extra warm that day. "Forever and ever."
And so the bear and the zombie had picnics every Tuesday, sharing sunshine vitamins and stories under the rainbow, teaching everyone in Whispering Woods that friendship blooms in the most unexpected places.
