Barnaby and the Magical Zombie Friend

Barnaby was no ordinary **dog**. With golden fur that shimmered like sunshine and a nose that could smell adventure from three towns away, he was the most curious pup in Meadowbrook Village. Every morning, Barnaby would trot through the forest, his tail wagging like a metronome, searching for something magical.

One cloudy Tuesday, Barnaby discovered something peculiar under the ancient oak tree. It was a small green doll with bright purple stitches and a friendly, crooked smile. An old tag attached to its read: "Zilly the **Zombie** — Friend to the Lonely."

"Hello there!" Barnaby barked happily.

To his surprise, Zilly opened one button eye. "Well, hello, furry friend! I've been sleeping for one hundred years."

Barnaby's ears perked up. "You're alive?"

"Sort of," Zilly giggled. "I'm a magical zombie, not a scary one. I wake up when someone needs a friend."

Zilly stood up, but her purple yarn **hair** was tangled with leaves and twigs from her long nap. Barnaby immediately began grooming her, gently pulling out each piece of debris until her hair flowed like purple river grass.

"Thank you, Barnaby!" Zilly beamed. "Now, let's go on an adventure!"

Together they discovered enchanted butterflies that painted rainbows in the air, sang songs with whispering willows, and shared moon-pies with starlight sparkle. As the sun set, painting the sky in cotton-candy colors, Zilly's eyes began to close.

"Time for my hundred-year nap again," she whispered. "But I'll wake up whenever someone needs a friend."

Barnaby curled up beside her, understanding the most important lesson: real friends never truly leave, they simply wait for the next adventure to begin. And sometimes, the most wonderful friends come in the most unexpected packages — even magical zombie dolls with purple hair under ancient oak trees.
