Barnaby and the Golden Wish

Barnaby was a fluffy orange cat who loved adventure. He climbed the tallest trees in his garden and chased butterflies across the meadow. But there was one thing Barnaby feared: water.

Every afternoon, the family's golden **goldfish**, Splash, swam in circles in her bowl on the porch. Barnaby would sit and watch her for hours.

"Why do you stay in that small bowl?" Barnaby asked one day. "The world is so big!"

Splash swam to the glass. "I dream of the **pool** in the garden," she bubbled. "I hear the children laughing there. But I could never reach it."

Barnaby's heart squeezed. He knew what it meant to dream big but feel small.

That night, when the house slept, Barnaby crept to the porch. His paws trembled as he lifted Splash's bowl. Water splashed onto his fur, making him shiver. But he pressed on, carrying his friend through the moonlit garden.

At the **pool**'s edge, Barnaby gently poured Splash into the cool, shimmering water. For a moment, she floated still. Then—SPLASH!—she darted like liquid sunshine, exploring every corner.

"Thank you, Barnaby!" Splash called from beneath a lily pad. "You're the bravest **cat** I know!"

Barnaby dipped one paw into the water. It wasn't so scary after all.

Each summer night, Barnaby visited the pool. He and Splash would talk about starships and treasure hunts until dawn. Barnaby learned that courage isn't about being fearless. It's about being brave for someone you love.

And Splash learned that even a small fish can have the biggest adventures with a true friend by her side.
