Agent Whiskers and the Golden Baseball

Leo pushed the green mush around his plate. Mom always said **spinach** would make him strong, but Leo just wanted to play outside. Suddenly, his orange tabby cat, Mochi, jumped onto the table and whispered, "Leo, I need your help."

Leo gasped. "You can talk?"

"I've always been able to talk," Mochi said, adjusting a tiny black bowtie Leo had never noticed before. "I'm a secret **spy** for the Magical Animal Protection Agency. And you're my new partner."

Leo's eyes went wide. "Me? But I'm just a kid!"

"Exactly," Mochi purred. "Kids have the best imagination. That's where the real magic lives." He pulled a small glowing device from his fur. "Someone stole the Golden Baseball from the Sky Stadium. Without it, children everywhere will forget how to dream big dreams."

Leo's heart raced. A real adventure! "What do we do?"

"First, you must eat your spinach," Mochi said seriously. "It activates your imagination powers."

Leo gulped down the spinach, and suddenly everything shimmered with possibility. Mochi touched his paw to Leo's forehead, and they whooshed through a rainbow portal right into their backyard—except the yard was now filled with floating clouds and talking flowers.

"The thief left clues," Mochi said, sniffing a trail of sparkling dust. They followed it past the garden shed, where a grumpy squirrel sat guarding a shiny golden ball.

"Give it back!" Leo shouted bravely.

The squirrel sneered. "Why should kids have all the fun? Adults stopped believing in magic, so I'm keeping it for myself."

"But adults used to be kids too," Leo said gently. "Maybe they just forgot how to see the magic."

He tossed the Golden Baseball to the squirrel. "Play with us. We can all share the dream."

The squirrel caught it, and his grumpy face softened. "Well, I suppose..."

As they played catch under the stars, Leo realized something important: the real magic wasn't the baseball or the spinach—it was sharing wonder with others, even grumpy squirrels. And having a **friend** like Mochi, the most extraordinary **cat** in the world, who showed him that even ordinary days could be filled with extraordinary adventure.
