Agent Goldfish and the Super Spinach

Lily was the worst spy in the world. Every time she tried to sneak around the house, her sneakers squeaked like little mice. But she had the best partner anyone could ask for — Comet, her orange goldfish who swam in circles whenever Lily entered the room.

One Tuesday, while hiding behind the couch during a top-secret mission (also known as avoiding dinner), Lily noticed something strange. Comet wasn't swimming in circles. He was swimming in the shape of letters. S-P-I-N-A-C-H.

Lily gasped. "Comet! You can spell?"

The goldfish tapped his tail against the glass. Three times. Yes. Yes. Yes.

"Are you..." Lily whispered, leaning closer to the bowl. "Are you a spy?"

Comet swam to his plastic castle and pulled out a tiny golden badge with a fish on it.

"Agent Comet," Lily read. "Underwater Spy Network. Division 7."

The fish nodded and swam to the surface, blowing bubbles that formed words in the air. NEED YOUR HELP. THE KITCHEN.

Lily followed Comet's bowl to the kitchen where her mom was serving dinner. The dreaded green pile sat on Lily's plate.

"Spinach again?" Lily groaned.

But Comet was excited. He swam furiously, then projected tiny rainbow bubbles that showed a secret underwater kingdom where fish with magical powers protected the oceans. But the fish warriors were growing weak. They needed something special to regain their strength.

"Spinach?" Lily asked, eyes wide.

Comet nodded so hard his whole body wobbled.

Lily looked at the green pile. Then at her fish friend. Then at the tiny bubble heroes who needed help. She took a bite. Then another. Then the whole pile.

Something magical happened. Lily felt energy rush through her like ocean waves. She could hear underwater sounds. She could feel the currents.

"Thank you, Agent Lily," Comet swam. "Every bite of spinach powers our protection spells. You're not just eating vegetables. You're saving the seas."

That night, Lily fell asleep dreaming of fish knights in seaweed armor, knowing that tomorrow, and every tomorrow, she'd happily eat her spinach. Because real heroes always finish their greens.
