Agent Fin's Spinach Secret

Lily peered into her fishbowl, watching Fin the goldfish swim in lazy circles. "Are you really a spy?" she whispered, just like Grandpa had told her.

Fin stopped swimming. He swam to the glass and tapped three times—tap, tap, tap. Then he did a little flip. Lily gasped. Grandpa was right!

That night, Lily placed the fishbowl carefully in her backpack and crept outside to the garden. Moonlight made the vegetables glow like tiny lanterns. Fin's scales shimmered brighter than ever.

"This way," a tiny voice seemed to say. Lily followed the moonlit path past towering tomato plants and around the cucumber trellis. They reached the spinach patch, where something strange was happening. Little shadows were darting between the emerald leaves.

"Slugs!" Lily whispered. They were eating the precious spinach plants—the ones Mom grew for Lily's healthy soup every Sunday.

Fin glowed with golden light. Suddenly, tiny bubbles floated from his bowl and popped over the spinach patch. Where they landed, the slugs turned confused and sleepy. One by one, they wandered away from the garden, leaving the spinach safe.

Lily carefully placed each spinach leaf back into place. "Thank you, Agent Fin," she whispered. The goldfish did a proud spin.

The next morning, Mom marveled at how healthy the spinach looked. "It's like someone protected it all night," she said, winking at Lily.

Lily grinned, glancing at her fishbowl on the windowsill. Fin swam in happy circles. Sometimes the smallest heroes make the biggest difference—especially when they work together with their friends.
